Tawny Frogmouth

Tawny Frogmouth

These Tawny Frogmouth chicks were brought to me in November 2013. One at a time they arrived and settled into my house. They were fed on live mealy worms, cicadas, larvae and raw meat. They thrived and grew and eventually were put out on the balcony where they could come and go as they pleased. They were very playful and liked to splash in a shallow tray of water I had put out on the balcony. They stayed quiet during the day and did not venture out until dark. It took a while, maybe 2 months, before they actually went into the garden and caught their own food, and then one day, one Tawny at a time, they flew away.
